Community Round-Up: 08/10/11 | Gaming News and Opinion at ...

Ahoy there! Yes, I?m back, and so I can personally assure you that this Community Roundup is worth a read, unlike the previous drivel sprouting from Teflon that you?ve had to endure for the past two weeks! I?m settling in here at Uni, and so am taking back the reins for this wondrous adventure as we look at what?s been happening on TSA over the past week.

The F1 Championship, way back in autumn 2010, was one of the largest (planning wise) and most successful competitions that has ever been held here on TSA. It?s something that has frequently crept up in the Meet the Reader interviews as a favourite feature, and I?m glad to say it?s back for this year! Over a six week period, TSA?s finest racers will battle it out for the ultimate title; TSA?s F1 Champion.

There are three groups, comprising of sixteen drivers that will meet each week for a non-stop, adrenaline rushed and exciting Grand Prix race. Up for grabs are TSA Trophies that will be handed out to the top 3 drivers once the Championship has been completed. There will also be a trophy for someone elected by everyone who has taken part, and it?s likely more prizes will be added throughout the course of the Championship. The announcement article has all the details, and the deadline for entering is on Tuesday 11th October, so don?t miss out!

At 8pm tonight, the Resistance 3 Multiplayer Competition takes place. Thirteen entrants will be battling it out in three rounds comprising of Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and a final Deathmatch. The winner is the person with the most points across all three rounds. SCEE have very kindly given us five, yes five, Resistance T-shirts, and dear old Peter has gotten his hands on a copy of Resistance: A Hole in the Sky, the novel that links the second and third games. If you?re taking part, remember, it starts at 8pm tonight, so don?t be late.

Lastly, if you fancy winning yourself a TSA badge, Jas-n has the opportunity for you to win one of 13 of those shiny objects that you desire! Head on over to his Folding@Home October Update, and take a look as there are three ways in which you can win.

Looking ahead to next week, it looks jam-packed with TSA Meets, which is exactly what we want to see! Let?s dive in and see what?s happening this week.

We?ve got a pair of meets taking place tonight. First up at 7pm, is the ?Whatever?s On Beta??meet, which this week features Battlefield 3. Your regular host Death_in_Flamez will be organising the Meet, and check the thread for details. Later on tonight, sanmartinez is hosting a Bioshock 2 meet at 9pm. [Oh the shame! There is also a mistaken Resistance 3 meet of my creation! Still, a little extra practice never hurt competition goers - Tef]

On Sunday, Tom is hosting the F1 meet at 6pm. It would be a brilliant chance for you to get your eye-in if you?re planning on entering the F1 Championship, and I?m sure it will be a laugh if you just want some light-hearted F1 fun! It?s already looking pretty full as I write this now, so head on over there quickly to see if there?s any space left. A little bit later on, at 7pm Death_in_Flamez is hosting the regular SARPBC meet.

Looking ahead further into the week, Spoofer is hosting the regular Killzone 3 Meet on Monday night at 7pm. Also taking place is Mondays Motorstorm Madness, hosted by theberzerka and it all kicks off at 8pm. Jambo is hosting a GT5 Meet on Tuesday to test out the new 2.0 update, with the lights going out at 8pm.

It looks like you lot are going to be having a busy week of gaming with all those Meets, but if there?s nothing there that takes your fancy, feel free to host your own meet here, provided you have at least 250 TSA points.

It?s been a ridiculously busy week with so many articles being posted on TSA, so I?ll try my best to list them for you here.

Starting with the reviews first, on Tuesday, Dan reviewed Mercury Hg, a puzzle game on both PSN and XBLA. Peter?s review of RAGE also went up, a game that I found surprisingly enjoyable at EGX. Jim reviewed the JRPG, Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland, while Al reviewed Forza 4, described as possibly ?the best racer this gen?, which is released this Friday.

For our Uncharted lovers out there, we gave you a double dose of Drake ? firstly going Hands On with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, the brand new Vita game, and also Uncharted 3. Lastly, Kris went Hands On with Sonic Generations for the second time on TSA.

Pretty much wrapping up the EGX articles we?ve had here on TSA, Blair brings us the TSA Talks EGX Special, so you can hear from the TSA staff that were present, their final thoughts about the whole show.

If you missed the WeView Verdict for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, you can still catch the reaction, or you could post your thoughts about WipEout HD, whilst not forgetting to give it your review in the forums.

Here are some of the best threads from both General Chat and Gaming Banter. Remember, you need to be signed in to view General Chat as it is just full of loonies, and pictures of cats.

  • Firstly, Roy wants you all to share your Fifa 12 tips, because he?s rubbish at the game. (Just joking, Roy!)
  • There?s been some wonderful updates to the Artwork thread.
  • Boomshanks has come up with a new game, called Get In Here!
  • Steven reviews Dragon Age 2 (Warning, may contain spoilers).
  • And finally, SpikeyMikey needs some ?advice?.

That?s it for this week, I hope you enjoyed it! I give you all permission to leave a comment below saying how pleased you are to have me back. I?m now off to do some laundry, and seeing as I?ve mastered how to use the washing machines, I?ll also be writing to the Queen in the hope of getting a Knighthood. Or just an MBE. I?m not fussy. See you next week!
